Orleans police nab Stop & Shop purse snatcher

ORLEANS - Orleans police nabbed a purse snatcher today thanks to the actions of the victim and others.  Around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers responded to a reported purse snatching at the Stop and Shop in Orleans.

The victim told officers that her purse had been taken from her cart when she looked away.  She was able to identify the man who stole her purse and along with bystanders and store employees, followed him out of the store.

Officer David Freiner soon caught up with the suspect, 25-year-old Kristian Roderick of Brewster and Eastham.  Roderick had reportedly dumped the purse prior to being apprehended.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Orleans Police Department where he was charged with larceny from a person over 65, larceny over $250, disorderly conduct and attempting to commit a crime, according to police. Roderick was arraigned in Orleans District Court on Wednesday.

The vicitm was able to recover her purse and its contents, according to police.
