Dogs, cats and other critters at the Animal Rescue League of Boston's Brewster shelter are a bit more comfortable thanks to the efforts of the students at Wellfleet Elementary School.

With the help of family, friends, teachers and staff, WES kindergarteners spent the month of January collecting blankets and towels for the animal shelter.  Each day, according to the school, students worked towards a goal of 200 pieces which they easily reached.

On February 1, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Porteus took their students and the fruits of their labor to the shelter on Route 6A.   Students got to visit with the animals and managed to fill a kennel 2/3 full with blankets and towels.

The trip allowed the kids to see how their projects benefit members of the community--even the four-legged ones.
