Cairn today, gone tomorrow

Did my Cairn Terrier explain it all?

Yesterday, walking my dog Suzie along the Cotuit harbor, we came across an elegant cairn. I emailed the photo to my neighbor Jane, who resides on the property above the beach.

She responded: "The Cairn is wonderful…. I wonder who built it and what is the significance to the architect? Love, Jane

Returning early this Sunday morning with Suzie to view the graceful mound of stones, the structure was askew. I hope it was the incoming tide rather than the shod foot of an angry man that brought it down.

And I then realized what connected all of this. It was Suzie, my West Highland White Terrier, a Scottish breed of dog, whose closest relative is the Cairn Terrier.
