Eastham DPW hosts hazardous products collection July 20

Orleans and Eastham residents invited to participate

The Town of Eastham announced Wednesday that they will hold a hazardous products collection on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Residents of Eastham and Orleans are invited to drop off their hazardous materials.  Such materials include cleaners, chemicals, gasoline, Mercury products, oil based paint, polishes, stains, pesticides and yard chemicals. Covanta SEMASS will exchange Mercury thermometers and thermostats for digital units while supplies last.

Latex paint will not be accepted. According to the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, latex paint may be dried out, then thrown out.

The collection will be held at the Eastham Department of Public Works (DPW)/Natural Resources at 555 Old Orchard Road in Eastham.

Another collection will be held in September--this time in Orleans.

Businesses are welcome to participate at a cost by calling 508-375-6699.

The collections are funded by the towns of Eastham and Orleans, Covanta SEMASS and the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension.
