Provincetown Police Blotter: 9/30/13 to 10/7/13

Provincetown Police Department activity for September 30, 2013 through October 7, 2013.

During the period of Monday, September 30, 2013 through Monday, October 7, 2013, the officers of the Provincetown Police Department responded to 451 calls for service.

Officers responded to 33 medical emergencies, one mental health transport and one service call by the health agent.

There were five reports of suspicious activity, three reports of vandalism, two reports of larceny and one past breaking and entering reported.

There were three unidentified animal calls in addition to the report of an injured rabbit, an injured bird, a goose with a broken wing, one lost cat, one snake and two loose dogs. Officers were called to investigate one report of a dog in a car and asked to conduct an animal welfare check.

There was one assault, two disorderlies and four disturbances, one of which resulted in an arrest (see below). There were two domestic disturbances, one of which resulted in an arrest (see below).

There was one tenant/landlord dispute, one by-law violation and an unfounded report of the smell of gas.

Officers responded to 10 sounding alarms, several of which were fire and burglar alarms and one was on the National Seashore at Race Point.

Provincetown officers pulled over 24 motorists, arrested one for OUI (see below) and issued citations to six people.

There were 3 arrests:

  • On Sunday, October 6 at 12:12 a.m., Nicholas Dagenais, 50, of 856 Smith Neck Road in South Darmouth, was arrested during a disturbance call on Commercial Street and charged with possession of a Class A substance (ketamine).
  • On Saturday, October 5 at 10:52 p.m., William Z. Bayba, 52, of 170 Jay Street in Albany, NY, was arrested during a domestic disturbance call on Franklin Street and charged with domestic assault and battery.
  • On Friday, October 4 at 1:27 a.m., Dwayne L. Jones, 36, of 16E Industry Way in Orleans, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Allerton Street and Bradford Street and charged with OUI-liquor, speeding, operating a motor vehicle to endanger, marked lane violation and failure to keep right on a hill/obstructed view.

There were 4 motor vehicle accidents:

  • Friday, October 4 at 7:23 p.m. on Commercial Street (hit and run)
  • Tuesday, October 1 at 5 p.m. on Shank Painter Road (minor, past MVA)
  • Tuesday, October 1 at 2:40 p.m. at Conwell Street and Cemetery Road
  • Tuesday, October 1 at 1:43 p.m., motor vehicle vs. dog on Conwell Street, citation issued
