Arrest made in Falmouth armed bank robbery

Falmouth police work with other agencies to apprehend Mashpee man

FALMOUTH - Falmouth police announced Monday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod on North Falmouth Highway last Monday.

In a release, Falmouth police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Alex Sanders of Mashpee. According to police, Sanders reportedly robbed the bank armed with a handgun.  Police released his description last week, but no surveillance video was available.

A join investigation conducted by Falmouth police, MA State Police and FBI agents reportedly led to Sanders. The investigating agencies with the assistance of Mashpee police and the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit served a search warrant at Sanders's Mashpee home, where according to police, evidence was discovered and seized.

Sanders was taken to the Falmouth Police Station where he was processed and charged with armed robbery while masked, commission of a felony while armed, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and making a false/silent 911 call.
