YARMOUTH - Yarmouth police have unmasked and arrested the man reportedly responsible for robbing Town House News last Monday night.

According to a Yarmouth police release, 22-year-old Matthew Robert Tierney of 46 Nautical Lane in South Yarmouth was placed under arrested at the Yarmouth Police Station Friday night.

On Monday night around 11 p.m., Tierney allegedly entered the mini mart on Old Town House Road brandishing a  gun and demanding money. Tierney allegedly only made off with a small amount of cash.

Tuesday morning police released word of the robbery and said the suspect was white and in his mid-twenties. A day later, grainy surveillance stills were released to media.

Police did not indicate how Tierney's arrest came about, if they received information or if he may have turned himself in at the station.

Tierney was charged with armed robbery while masked, a felony. He will be arraignedi n Barnstable County District Court on Tuesday, following the Veterans' Day holiday.
