Balise Auto supports Beehive food program

Sponsors food for three HyWest families for the school year

Three families at Hyannis West Elementary School will receive Beehive Food Packages thanks to the generosity of Balise Motor Sales Company. Balise operates Hyundai, Ford and Nissan franchises in Hyannis as well as Ready Credit Used Cars and Balise Hyannis Car Wash.

Balise Vice-President Mike Balise told Cape Cod Today, “Balise is proud to support the Beehive Food Program. It’s a grass roots organization that helps the folks that really need it the most and we’re honored to be associated with them.”

The Masonic Angel Foundation’s Beehive Food Program is now serving 15 families at Hyannis West. Each family receives a supplemental food package every month during the school year.

Beehive has provided over 1,300 food packages since it was launched in May 2012.

Profound need at Hyannis West

While most of the Masons’ Beehive Food Program activity is on the Lower Cape and at Joint Base Cape Cod, they stepped up to help Hyannis West after learning that over 85% of the school’s students are eligible for federal free and reduced lunch.

Beginning in March, the Masonic Angel Fund at Mariners Masonic Lodge in Cotuit underwrote ten packages a month for Hyannis West. Another donation brought that number up to twelve and now Balise has enabled the Masonic Angels to provide three more packages each month.

Beehive Food Package recipients are identified by school staff. The Masons deliver the packages to the schools once a month and school staff distribute the food to the families. The Masons never know the identity of those receiving their food.

As with all MAF programs, Beehive is 100% volunteer-operated. All funds donated for Beehive are used to provide the food packages.

More community support needed

The Masonic Angels see a need at Hyannis West for up to 50 families a month. They are writing grants and approaching Hyannis businesses to stand with the Masons in support of the children at Hyannis West Elementary.
