Yarmouth police seek suspect in armed robbery

Route 6A store robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night, suspect at large

YARMOUTH PORT - Yarmouth police are searching for a man who reportedly robbed the Yarmouth Port Village Store at 330 Route 6A at gunpoint Tuesday night. The robbery occurred around 8:12 p.m., according to a Yarmouth police release.

According to Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos, officers, including a YPD K-9 unit, were on the scene within a minute of the crime being reported. Additional Yarmouth officers and State Police troopers arrived to search the area, but the suspect was not located.

Police did not indicate how many people were in the store at the time of the robbery or if there were any injuries.

Store clerks told police the suspect was a heavy-set white man, approximately 5'10" tall. He was wearing a black ski mask and a black hooded jacket/sweatshirt with the hood up. The suspect was armed with a handgun, according to police.

Police have review surveillance video from the store and will release images when available.

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Deputy Chief Xiarhos.
