Pedestrian struck and killed on Route 6 in Yarmouth Saturday

Yarmouth Port woman pronounced dead at the scene, State Police investigating

YARMOUTH - A woman was struck and killed in the westbound lane of Route 6 Saturday night. According to a State Police release, 911 calls came in just before 5 p.m. about a woman walking along Route 6. Not long after, callers reported the woman had been struck near Exit 8.

State troopers described the woman's condition as grave when they first arrived at the scene. The victim, identified as a 32-year-old Yarmouth Port resident, was pronounced dead at the scene by Yarmouth Fire & Rescue.

The victim was reportedly struck by two vehicles, according to State Police. The drivers of both vehicles were interviewed at the scene and neither have been cited, police said.

State Police are investigating the circumstances that brought the victim to Route 6. The woman's name has yet to be released.

A section of Route 6 was closed for two hours while the scene was processed and the victim's body was removed.
