The Falmouth Art Center announced recently that they will be opening their new ceramics studio in January 2014. According to their website, the center has been without a clay studio for 13 years.

But that all changed with the arrival and installation of the kiln, which Bethany Cooper of center calls "enormous". The opening of the ceramic studio brings a whole new world of art and expression to the center.

A variety of new classes has been added to the center's schedule including everything from working with a pottery wheel to hand building, glazing and firing in the new kiln.

Classes will be available for all ages and abilities, from toddlers to adults, according to Cooper.

Registration is now open for the new session which begins on January 7, 2014. New clay classes include: "Hand Building with Clay", "Exploring Clay", "Small Sculpture" and "Building of the Basics of the Wheel" for adults and "Introduction to Clay for Ages 9-12", "Play with Clay, Ages 6-8" and "High School Ceramics" for kids.

The Falmouth Art Center is at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth, 508-540-3304.
