Yarmouth police assist with arrest of alleged child pornographer

WEST YARMOUTH - Tuesday morning at 6:43 a.m., Yarmouth police assisted Homeland Security and Massachusetts State Police with the arrest of an alleged child pornographer. According to a Yarmouth police release, 45-year-old Adam S. Polakowski was arrested at his home at 18 College Road in West Yarmouth.

Polakowski was transported to the Yarmouth Police Station where he was booked and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography then transported to Boston by federal and state authorities, according to Yarmouth police. Polakowski is being held in federal custody with out bail pending a hearing.

Yarmouth police released no other details, but according to the Boston Globe, Polakowski first became a person of interest for federal investigators in August. He reportedly told federal agents that he has been collecting child pornography for the past six year and admitted to taking photos of children at area beaches.

According to the Boston Globe, during a search of Polakowski's home computer, federal and state agents found more than 800 child pornography images.
