Wanted: Three men, seven women to play in Barnstable

Auditions to be held for "Play On!" in March

The Barnstable Comedy Club has announced open auditions for "Play On!" Monday through Wednesday, March 17-19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. "Play On!" is a comedy by Rick Abbot offering audiences a behind the curtain look at a community theater staging of a world premier written by one of their own.

"Play On!" will run May 22 through June 8 under the direction of Marti Baker.

Baker is looking for three men and seven women between the ages of 20-60 to fill the roles. Character descriptions are available online here. Questions may be directed to 508-362-6333.

Rick Abbot was one of many pen names used by Jack Sharkey, according to SamuelFrench.com. In all, Sharkey had 83 plays published under his own name, Abbot and three others. His other titles include "A Turn for the Nurse", "Dracula: The Musical?" and But Why Bump Off Barnaby?".

Perusal scripts are available at the Hyannis Public Library on Main Street and Sturgis Library on Route 6A in Barnstable Village.
