The Dental Hygiene Clinic at Cape Cod Community College is offering Cape Cod children a better chance of staving off cavities through their free dental sealant program.

Over the course of the next few months, parents are encouraged to make an appointment for their child on either Thursday, February 13, March 13 or April 17 at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.

Children must be 18 or younger. Screenings and treatments will be done by students in the program under the supervision of area dentists and licensed dental hygienists.

According to a release from Cape Cod Community College, the application of sealants offers better protection against bacteria and decay and reduce the occurrence of cavities by 60%.

The Dental Hygiene Program at Cape Cod Community College operates a 14-chair clinic at the school.
