State, Yarmouth police investigate death of West Yarmouth two-year-old

WEST YARMOUTH - Massachusetts State Police and the Yarmouth Police Department are investigating the death of a 2-year-old West Yarmouth child. According to a joint release from the Yarmouth Fire and Police Departments, officers and firefighters were called to a home on Winslow Gray Road in West Yarmouth around 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

First responders performed CPR on the child, who was reportedly unresponsive. The child was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis by ambulance, where despite all efforts, the child could not be revived.

Fox Boston is reporting that the child was in the custody of the MA Department of Children and Families (DCF). The child's death is under investigation by State and Yarmouth police.

Any further announcements about the incident are expected to be made by the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office.
