Lovers of candy and literature rejoice! The Jonathan Bourne Library in Bourne is sponsoring a Peep diorama contest.

Kids, families and adults are welcomed to bring their favorite book to life through the marshmallow medium of Peeps.

The diorama must be the size of a standard shoebox, no larger than 10" x 12", according to the official rules. The contest is open to all ages. One entry is allowed per person.

All entries must be in good taste and are due at the library by Friday, April 4. Entries will be judged by a panel of library staff the week of April 15. Winners will be announced on April 18 and will remain on display in the library until April 25.

There will be several categories including family, teen, child and adult. The official entry form is here.

Once just an Easter treat, Peeps have begun to pop up at all major holidays. The original chicks and bunnies are now joined by pumpkins, bats, hearts, ghosts and gingerbread men. The sweet marshmallow candy has been a staple in American Easter baskets since 1953.

The Jonathan Bourne Public Library is at 19 Sandwich Road in Bourne. 508-759-0644.
