Whole Foods Market opening at the Southwind Plaza

Will employ 175 Cape Codders at the Route 132 location

Whole Foods Market’s newest location is at 990 Iyannough Road in Hyannis, and it will open with the company’s traditional bread-breaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 14 at 10:00am.

The Cape's newest supermarket will be located at the former Borders bookstore property in Southwind Plaza on Route 132, and it already has over 1,000 followers on its Facebook.

The 28,000 square foot store, Whole Foods Market’s first Cape Cod location, will employ approximately 175 local people full and part time.

A press release from the company says it promises to offer customers outstanding value on the highest quality natural and organic groceries available.

The company has a reputation for buying locally grown produce. They hosted a local supplier summit on March 20 at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Old Old Main Street in South Yarmouth.

The new Whole Foods store will be the second new chain store to open on Route 132, joining Kohl's which opened up the hill from the Whole Foods location in September 2013.

The store will also feature walk-up food service windows and exciting elements like a waffle bar, a juice and smoothie bar and a great selection of locally sourced products. Whole Foods Market Hyannis’ store hours will be 8am – 10 pm, 7 days a week.
