Falmouth car vs. pole sends one to hospital

Crash knocks out power in East Falmouth Tuesday night

EAST FALMOUTH - A car versus utility pole crash sent one person to the hospital and knocked out power in a section of East Falmouth Tuesday evening. According to a Falmouth police release, the driver, an unidentified 29-year-old Marstons Mills man, crashed his 2007 Dodge Charger into a utility pole at the intersection of Sandwich and Turner Roads.

The driver, who was the only person in the car at the time of the crash, was transported to Falmouth Hospital by Falmouth Fire and Rescue. His injuries are reportedly non life-threatening.

Sandwich Road was closed for an hour and a half while rescuers extracted the driver from his car, the car was removed from the scene and NSTAR was called in to repair the downed wires to restore power to the area.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and did not say whether or not the driver would be facing any charges related to the crash.
