Cotuit gets flushed

Cotuit Water Department flushing water mains now through mid-June

The Cotuit Water Department is currently in the process of flushing water mains throughout the village. The process began on Monday, April 14 and will continue through Friday, June 13.  Flushing will only be done between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Water mains are flushed each spring to maintain water quality.  Signs will be posted in the areas where flushing is being done.

Residents in those areas are advised to refrain from washing clothing between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as flushing may cause a discoloration of the water. The discoloration poses no health risks and will clear after a short period of time.

During posted flushing times, residents are encouraged to set aside water for drinking and cooking, according to the Cotuit Water Department.

In addition to signs, flushing areas are posted on the Cotuit Fire District's website here.
