Masonic Angels’ Bowl-A-Thon in Orleans

“Angel Strikes” money raised here, stays here

UPDATE: The Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc. will held its first annual “Angel Strikes” bowl-a-thon on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Orleans Bowling Center.

The turn-out was good for their first event, and they raised $1,600.

A bowl-a-thon fundraiser is a lot like a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon. Bowlers (or teams of bowlers) ask friends to sponsor them for a certain amount per pin or for a flat donation.

On the day of the event they bowl and turn in their sponsor sheets. The Masons then bill the sponsors for their pledged donation.

The family-owned Orleans Bowling Center has generously donated the bowling and shoe rental.

Ways you can support the Angel Strikes bowl-a-thon:

  • Form a team of bowlers and challenge someone else to do the same – challenges of business vs. business, school vs. school…etc. all work well.
  • Bowl yourself with your own set of sponsors. Email [email protected] for a sponsor sheet or visit our Facebook event page.
  • Offer to sponsor one of the Masons who will bowl

Quietly Helps Local Kids

For the past 15 years Cape Cod’s local Masonic Angel Funds have helped thousands of children in need. Typical MAF benevolences include food, clothing, eye care, academic enrichment programs, after school tuition assistance and assistance with other modest needs.

Since May 2010, the MAF’s 860 Laptops for KidZ project has provided over 860 computers for children across the Cape and Southeastern Massachusetts. MAF’s Beehive Food Program has provided nearly 2,000 monthly food packages since its inception in 2012.

The Masonic Angels work with local school and social work professionals. They never learn the identity of the children they help. The schools serve as a “firewall” to preserve the children’s anonymity but do tell the parents the help came from the Masonic Angel Fund.

Money Raised Here, Stays Here

One of the cornerstones of the Masonic Angel Fund program is that 100% of the funds raised in a community stays in that community. All overhead costs of local MAF chapters are covered by the sponsoring Masonic Lodge. The Bowl-A-Thon benefits Masonic Angel Fund chapters from Dennis to Wellfleet.

The Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc. is 100% volunteer-operated.

If You Go

The Angel Strikes bowl-a-thon will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th at the Orleans Bowling Center, 191 Route 6a in Orleans. Sponsor sheets and program flyers are available for download on the Angel Strikes Facebook page.
