Prosecutor Lisa Edmonds confirmed for an Orleans District Court judgeship

Some council members expressed concerns about appointing another career prosecutor to the bench

Career prosecutor Lisa Edmonds was unanimously confirmed for an Orleans District Court judgeship Wednesday by the Governor’s Council.

During her confirmation hearing, some council members expressed concerns about appointing another career prosecutor to the bench. Edmonds has worked in the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office since 1996. Since 2005, she was a prosecutor in Superior Court trying felony cases.

She became chief of the domestic violence unit in 2009. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Boston and received her law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
