Train crossing work to close Old Jail Lane in Barnstable this week

Mass Coastal Railroad to conduct work at railroad crossing

The Town of Barnstable announced that Old Jail Lane in Barnstable will be closed to thru traffic this week. According to a release from the town, Mass Coastal Railroad will be replacing the existing at grade railroad crossing with a new crossing surface.

The road closure will be in effect Wednesday, May 28 through Friday, May 30. Work crews will be at the crossing from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the three-day period.

Old Jail Lane connects Route 6A (Main Street) to Phinneys Lane in Barnstable Village.

Cape Rail and its subsidiaries, Mass Coastal Railroad and Cape Cod Central Railroad, are owned and operated by Iowa Pacific Holdings.
