Town of Brewster looking to fill two dozen committee positions

Residents needed for everything from cemeteries to golf

The Town of Brewster is looking to fill twenty -four committee vacancies.  There are fourteen committees/commissions in need of new members.

  • All Citizen's Access Committee: There are three open positions. This committee oversees matters of accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Of seven-members, four are appointed for a three-year term.
  • Bikeways Committee: There is one open position. This committee oversees bike safety. Seven members are appointed for 3-year terms.
  • Brewster Historical Commission: There is one open position. The committee appraises historical preservation projects. Seven members are appointed for 3-year terms.
  • Cable Television Advisory Committee: There are three open positions. This committee oversees the town's local access channels and cable contracts and services. Seven members are appointed for 3-year terms.
  • Cemetery Commission: There are two open positions. This commission oversees the town's five cemeteries. Five members are appointed for three-year terms.
  • Coastal Committee: There are two open positions. No description given.
  • Community Preservation Committee: There is one open position. This committee makes recommendations to the town for projects to be funded under the Community Preservation Act. Nine members are appointed for three-year terms.
  • Council on Aging - There are three open positions. The COA operates the town's senior center. Nine members are appointed for three-year terms.
  • Golf Commission - There are two open positions. This commission oversees the administration of the Captain's Golf Course. Seven members are appointed for three-year terms.
  • Historical Commission - There is one open position. This commission appraises local historical preservation projects. Seven members are appointed to three-year terms.
  • Human Services Committee - There are two open positions. This committee works with the non-profits that serve Brewster residents. Nine members are appointed to three-year terms.
  • Millsite Committee - There is one open position. This committee oversees the operation of the Stony Brook Gristmill and Museum. Seven members are appointed to three-year terms.
  • Open Space Committee - There is one open position. This committee reviews and catalogs undeveloped parcels in town. Nine members are appointed to three-year terms.
  • Water Commissioner - There is one open position. No description given.

Interested applicants must fill out the form and attach either a resume or a brief history of their work and/or volunteer experience. This information is also available in the Selectmen's Office.
