Supporters rally around O'Keefe

Supporters of Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe rallied around their candidate Saturday night at the Willowbend home of George K. Regan, owner of Boston-based Regan Communications. The fundraising event was emceed by legendary Boston news anchor Tom Ellis.

DA O'Keefe (R-Sandwich) is running for re-election this fall. He has been the Cape & Islands District Attorney since 2002. This year's election marks the first time he will face an opponent in eight years--he ran unopposed in 2006 and 2010.

Richard Barry (D-Cotuit) is running against the incumbent. Barry, is no stranger to the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office having worked there as an assistant district attorney before going into private practice.

When he announced his re-election, DA O'Keefe said, "To face the challenges of the future, I believe we need professional leadership in this office and I want to continue to provide it."

David Southworth, the owner of the Willowbend Country Club, Barnstable County Special Sheriff Jeff Perry and former First Justice of the Orleans District Court Brian R. Merrick (retired) were also at Saturday night's gathering in Mashpee.
