Dozens of local Mason volunteers pitch in

Angels purchased 5,000 items for elementary and middle school students

A small army of 28 volunteers descended upon the Universal Masonic Lodge in Orleans Tuesday night to assemble school supply kits for over 640 Cape Cod children - see a photo montage of them putting the gift packages together below.

Working closely with local Dollar Tree and Staples stores, the Masonic Angels purchased approximately 5,000 items for elementary and middle school students in the past three weeks.

What's in each package

Elementary school students receive a pencil box, package of #2 pencils, package of colored pencils, large box of crayons, package of erasers, a pencil sharpener, a package of glue sticks and two spiral-bound notebooks.

Middle school students receive a pencil box, package of #2 pencils, package of ballpoint pens, package of erasers, a pencil sharpener, a three-ring notebook, package of refill paper and two spiral-bound notebooks.

Packages will be distributed this week to the following schools:

The Masonic Angel Foundation's Beehive School Tools project is funded by local Masonic Angel Fund chapters and grants from the Cape Cod Five Cents Saving Banks charitable foundation and the Virginia Cook Trust of the Federated Church of Orleans.

Founded in 1998 at Universal Lodge, MAF remains a 100% volunteer operated charity. Today there are 157 MAF chapters in 13 states with headquarters in Orleans.
