Sandwich Tree Warden to hold public hearing Oct. 21

Public comment on the fate of four trees on the agenda

The Sandwich tree warden will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 21 at 5 p.m. at the Sandwich Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to allow for comments from the public regarding the removal of four tagged trees in the parking lot of the Sandwich Public Library.

The four trees are to be removed to allow for a new configuration for the library's parking lot. In May it was announced at the Library Board of Trustees meeting that the funds were available for the reconfiguration and paving of the lot. Funds were made available following a vote at the annual town meeting.

The town's tree warden is Justin O'Connor. A part of the department of public works, the tree warden is responsible for all public shade trees in Sandwich.

The public hearing is required under the state Public Shade Tree Act.
