Mashpee already thinking snow

Town releases "do not plow list"

In Mashpee, they are already thinking snow. Well, at least the town's Department of Public Works (DPW) is. On Friday, the Mashpee DPW released the 2014-2015 "do not plow" list. The list includes 153 private roads that will not be plowed or sanded by the town unless indicated repairs are made.

Mandatory repairs including cutting back overhead limbs and overhanging brush, filling in potholes, removing tree roots and speed bumps and adding signage. Residents living in New Seabury or Popponesset Beach should contact their association.

Once the necessary repairs are made, residents may contact the DPW at [email protected] or 508-539-1420 to request a re-inspection.

Mashpee residents who don't live on a "do not plow" road, but use that road to access their road, will still want to review the list. Roads accessed by "do not plow" roads will not be plowed or sanded either, according to a notice from the DPW.

Snow removal and treatment falls under the town's Board of Selectmen Policy No. 14.
