Dennis Road Safety Task Force to hold public meeting Oct. 16

Town to unveil conceptual design plans for Route 6A intersection

On Thursday, October 16 at 6 p.m., the Dennis Road Safety Task Force will hold a public meeting to unveil conceptual design plans for the intersection at Nobscussett Road/New Boston Road and Route 6A.

Representatives from the New York-based engineering firm McFarland-Johnson, Inc. will present several design options at Carlton Hall, 1006 Old Bass River Road in Dennis Thursday evening.

The meeting is open to the public and public comments are encouraged.

The intersection is located on a curve near Dennis Public Market. New Boston Road connects to Beach Street which brings many locals and visitors to the popular bay beaches of Chapin and Mayflower, especially in the summer months.

The Dennis Road Safety Task Force is comprised of five volunteers, the town engineer and a representative of the Dennis Police Department.

Last year the town's engineering department requested proposals for design services and safety improvements at the intersection. Interested engineering firms were reminded that the intersection is not only located in an historic district, but is connected to a state road (Route 6A).
