Hyannis water project to begin Oct. 23

One lane of Yarmouth Road to be closed at night on work days

The Barnstable Department of Public Works Water Supply Division will begin a water works construction project on Thursday, October 23 on Yarmouth Road between Route 28 and Old Yarmouth Road (at the intersection near KAMs and the Hess Gas Station, see map below).

According to a Barnstable DPW notice, the current 12" water main used along the road will be rehabilitated through a cleaning and cement mortar lining process.

The majority of the work will be started on the 23rd and is expected to last two weeks.

On work days, the northbound lane of Yarmouth Road will be closed to traffic between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

To maintain a continuous water supply to the businesses and homes in the area, a temporary water bypass system will be installed. In the event of anticipated water service interruption, residents will be given 48-hours notice, according to the DPW.
