Town of Orleans seeks members for Police Station Building Committee

Committee to tackle design project, present findings at town meeting in May

The Town of Orleans is seeking five people to serve on a new Police Station Building Committee. The committee will review design options for a new police station including renovation, addition or replacement of the current facility on South Orleans Road.

Although design funding was rejected by voters on two previous occasions, the facility is still in need of updating, according to a charge from selectmen.

The 5-person committee will work with the chief of police and the town administrator (both will be non-voting, ex-officio members). Orleans Building and Facilities Manager Ron Collins will serve as the project manager.

The committee's findings will be used by selectmen at the May 2015 Town Meeting to finalize the size and scope of the project at the town meeting in May 2015.
