Falmouth Police Blotter: 9/2/14 to 9/15/14

Twenty arrests, 31 larcenies and 11 reports of shoplifting

During the 2-week period of Tuesday, September 2, 2014 through Monday, September 15, 2014, the officers of the Falmouth Police Department responded to 1,053 calls for service. 

During the two weeks, there were 14 domestic disturbances (5 arrests), 5 assault and battery calls, 19 disorderly disturbances (2 protective custody), 2 threats reported, 1 sex offense registry and 2 harassment order violations (2 arrests). Officers attempted 3 restraining order services (3 in hand), 7 warrant services (1 in hand, 3 arrests), 4 summons services (3 in hand) and 2 harassment prevention order services (2 in hand). 

There were 2 medical emergencies, 1 overdose, 35 welfare checks conducted, 1 mental illness (Section 12) call, 1 alcohol/drug (Section 35) call and 4 suicide attempts/threats. There was one unattended death.

Officers responded to 20 suspicious motor vehicle calls and 19 suspicious person calls. Officers were called in to preserve the peace on 1 occasion (1 protective custody). There was 1 report of a man with a gun, 1 report of trespassing and 15 reports of vandalism. 

There were 31 reported larcenies, 9 motor vehicle/trailer break-ins, 6 residential break-ins and 1 commercial break-in. There were 3 reports of identity theft/fraud and 11 reports of shoplifting. Officers responded to 73 sounding burglar alarms (3 bylaw citations issued). 

Officers assisted citizens on 32 occasions, the Falmouth Fire Department on 15 occasions (1 protective custody) and other police departments on 8 occasions (1 arrest). There was one fire and 2 drug law violations.

There were 5 illegal dumping complaints, 13 animal complaints, 19 noise complaints, 1 report of gunshots, 5 dirt bike/ATV complaints, 3 fireworks complaints and 1 annoying phone calls complaint. There were 3 intoxicated persons calls and 4 unwanted guest calls (2 arrests).

Forty-nine motorists were pulled over (13 citations, 7 arrests, 1 tow). There were 33 additional motor vehicle- related calls including traffic hazards and disabled motor vehicles (2 tows, 2 citations). There were 8 erratic motorist reports and 30 parking violation calls (15 citations/tickets).

There were 20 arrests:

  • On Thursday, September 11 at 7:50 p.m., Lance A. Berthiaume, 45, of 19 Tiller Drive in East Falmouth, was arrested during a domestic disturbance at that address and charged with assault and battery on family/household member and witness intimidation.
  • On Thursday, September 11 at 2:23 p.m., Elizabeth M. McInnis, 32, of 24 Meadow View Drive in Falmouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on East Falmouth Highway on an open warrant.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 9:05 p.m., Geoffrey Gill Gouveia Jr., 22, of 58 Rose Morin Lane, Apt. 48 in Falmouth, was arrested during an unwanted guest call at that address on an open warrant.  Gouveia was arrested with White, see below.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 9:05 p.m., Lily A. White, 21, of 58 Rose Morin Lane, Apt. 48 in Falmouth, was arrested during an unwanted guest call at that adress on two open warrants. White was arrested with Gouveia, see above.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 7:59 p.m., Ryan Christian Toth, 40, of 91 Wickertree Road in North Falmouth, was arrested during a warrant service at that address.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 7:48 p.m., Paul A. Lumsden, 33, of 52 Megansett Road in Catuamet, was arrested during a domestic disturbance at Sandwich Road and Pitch Pine Lane and charged with assault and battery on family/household member, strangulation or suffocation and witness intimidation.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 7:14 p.m., James M. Carney, 51, of 248 Church Street in Marlborough, was arrested during an assist other police department call on Old Forge Road and charged with violating an abuse prevention order.
  • On Tuesday, September 9 at 11:35 p.m., Carli A. Taylor, 27, of 20 Gunters Lane in Mashpee, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Saint Annes Lane and Teaticket Highway and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, possession of a Class B substance, resisting arrest and failure to obey police officer.
  • On Tuesday, September 9 at 9:55 a.m., Michael A. Dufresne, 33, of 346 Brick Kiln Road in E. Falmouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Teaticket Highway and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked license.
  • On Tuesday, September 9 at 4:35 a.m., Deirdre D. Souza, 45, of 354 Maravista Ave. in Falmouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Maravista Ave. and Randolph Street and charged with possession of a Class E substance, speeding and motor vehicle lights violation. Her passenger, Kerri Lynn Silva, was arrested on three warrants.
  • On Tuesday, September 9 at 4:35 a.m., Kerri Lynn Silva, 24, of 354 Maravista Ave. in Falmouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Maravista Ave. and Randolph Street on three outstanding warrants. Silva was arrested with Deirdre D. Souza, see above.
  • On Monday, September 8 at 4:26 p.m., Tanya L. Soares, 39, of 259 Old Main Road in North Falmouth, was arrested during a warrant service at that address.
  • On Monday, September 8 at 3:28 p.m.,  Paul G. Boutin, 44, of 116 Jones Road in Falmouth, was arrested during a domestic disturbance at that address and charged with assault and battery on family/household member, assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
  • On Monday, September 8 at 2:54 p.m., Christiana R. Haramut, 33, of 15 Harvard Drive in Falmouth, was arrested at that address during a warrant service. Haramut was arrested on September 3, see below.
  • On Sunday, September 7 at 9:28 p.m., Karl F. Mills, 27, of 42 Clover Lane in Poponessett, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Woods Hole Road and Harbor Hill Road and charged with motor vehicle lights violation, no inspection sticker, possession of marijuana (1 oz. or less). There was also an open warrant.
  • On Sunday, September 7 at 12:42 a.m., Chancellor J. Rei, 30, of 364 East Falmouth Highway, Apt. 308 in East Falmouth, was arrested during a domestic disturbance at that address and charged with strangulation or suffocation, disturbing the peace and malicious destruction of property $250+.
  • On Wednesday, September 3 at 8:11 p.m., Christiana R. Haramut, 33, of 15 Harvard Drive in Falmouth, was arrested during a harassment order violation call on Seacoast Shores Boulevard and charged with violation of a harassment prevention order and threat to commit a crime.
  • On Wednesday, September 3 at 6:09 p.m., Stacey M. Colon, 49 of 33 Fortaleza Drive in Falmouth, was arrested during a harassment order violation call on Shallow Pond Lane and charged with violating a harassment prevention order.
  • On Tuesday, September 2 at 5:09 p.m., Kirk M. Bater, 29, of 79 Regis Road in E. Falmouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Avalon Drive on an outstanding warrant.
  • On Tuesday, September 2 at 10:29 a.m., Peter McMullen, 35, of 32 Longfellow Road in Falmouth, was arrested during a domestic disturbance at that address and charged with assault and battery on a family/household member, resisting arrest, use of a motor vehicle without authority and wantonly injuring real or personal property. There were also two outstanding warrants.

  • Wednesday, September 10 at 8:14 p.m. on E. Falmouth Highway
