Sandwich police activity from 9/30/14 to 11/2/14.

Over the 5-week period of Tuesday, September 30, 2014 to Sunday, November 2, the officers of the Sandwich Police Department responded to 1,719 calls for service.

During the month there were 10 disturbances, one assault, one bomb scare at Sandwich High School, 4 reports of threats and 3 reports of harassment. There were 9 restraining order service attempts (4 made), 9 warrant service attempts (1 arrest), 2 summons service attempts (1 made) and one search warrant executed. There was one sex offender registry and 12 reports of malicious destruction.

Officers responded to 6 larcenies, one report of forgery/uttering, 1 reported robbery, 1 larceny from a building, 7 building break-ins, 1 breaking and entering (other), 2 reports of identity theft, one auto theft and one recovered auto.

There was one person reported missing and two reported elder problems.

Officers assisted citizens on 35 occasions, the Sandwich Fire Department on 23 occasions and other agencies on 25 occasions. There were 4 K9 call outs. 

There were 60 suspicious incidents and 78 sounding burglar alarms. There were 20 complaints, 2 firearm surrenders and 18 animal calls (all dog-related). There was one reported narcotics violation resulting in 2 arrests. One person reported receiving annoying phone calls. There were 2 bylaw violations, 1 liquor law violation and 3 civil matters.

Forty-two motorists were pulled over and 26 citations/warnings were issued. There were 3 arrests during motor vehicle stops--2 OUIs and one warrant arrest.  There were 84 miscellaneous motor vehicle /traffic-related calls (1 arrest, 1 citation).

There were 10 arrests:

  • On Tuesday, October 28 at 8:44 p.m., Melissa A. Mastny of 12 Madison Drive in Sandwich, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Service Road and Madison Drive on an outstanding warrant.
  • On Tuesday, October 28 at 5:06 p.m., Jamie J. Charlonne of 300 Falmouth Road in Mashpee, was arrested during a miscellaneous traffic call on Route 6A and charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), marked lanes violation, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
  • On Saturday, October 25 at 11:44 a.m., an arrest was made during an emergency message delivery on Jones Road. No other information provided.
  • On Sunday, October 19 at 1:06 a.m., Pamela Morse of 1025 Sandwich Road in Sagamore, was arrested following a motor vehicle crash on Route 6A and charged with OUI-liquor and marked lanes violation.
  • On Tuesday, October 14 at 8:01 p.m., an arrest was made during a motor vehicle stop on Tupper Road. No other information provided.
  • On Thursday, October 9 at 8:31 a.m., an arrest was made during a warrant service on Oxford Road. No other information provided.
  • On Tuesday, October 7 at 10:40 p.m., David Higgins of 33 Essex Road in Mashpee, was arrested during an operating under the influence call at Route 130 and Route 6 and charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense).
  • On Monday, October 6 at 8:24 a.m., Shawn Robert Farnham of 4 Juniper Hill Road in Sandwich, was arrested during a warrant service at that address (fugitive from justice court warrant).
  • On Wednesday, October 1 at 6:43 p.m., John Mackeil of 217 Lakeside Drive in Marstons Mills, was arrested during a narcotics violation at that address and charged with 2 counts of distribution of a Class B substance (MDMA), trafficking a Class B substance (MDMA) and conspiracy to violate drug laws. He was arrested with Richard Cormier, see below. See the story here.
  • On Wednesday, October 1 at 6:43 p.m., Richard Cormia of 19 Lumbert Mill Road in Centerville, was arrested during a narcotics violation at 217 Lakeside Drive in Marstons Mills and charged with distribution of a Class B substance (MDMA), trafficking a Class B substance (MDMA) and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
