NSTAR gets a new name

Cape Cod: your electric company now goes by Eversource

NSTAR, the Cape's electric company has a new name. As of Monday, February 2, the utility now goes by Eversource.

The name change was announced early last month. Northeast Utilities, NSTAR's parent company, announced the new brand name for NSTAR and its sister companies including Connecticut Light and Power Company, NSTAR Gas, Public Service Company of New Hampshire, Western Massachusetts Electric Company and Yankee Gas Services Company.

Customers were reportedly alerted to the rebranding prior to the effective name change date.

"Energy is what brings us all together," said Northeast Utilities Chairman, President & CEO Tom May, "and Eversource reflects the one-company focus we have been driving for the last few years."

Anyone headed to the NSTAR power outage map today, will be redirected to the new Eversource website. The power outage map is now here.

Barring the name and website changes, everything else appears to be the same, including the number to call for outages: 800-592-2000.
