Sandwich Special Town Meeting set for Feb. 23

Postponed from Feb. 9 due to snow, voters will consider 22 articles

Postponed from February 9 due to snow, the Sandwich Special Town Meeting will be held Monday, February 23 at 7 p.m. at Sandwich High School.

At the meeting, Sandwich voters will consider a warrant containing 22 articles.

The warrant contains two petition articles, neither of which are recommended by the Sandwich Board of Selectman. Article 4 calls for the start of a Beach Restoration Fund which would be funded by a portion of the revenue from sales tax at Sandwich restaurants. Article 5 requests that a non-binding question be added to the next annual Town Meeting ballot pertaining to the sale of the "Golden Triangle".

Several of the articles pertain to repairs and improvements at several town properties and sites including the schools, Sandwich Hollows Golf Club, the Sandwich Marina and the Dexter Grist Mill.

Four of the articles are zoning by-law changes including non-confirming use and abandonment, exterior storage and the creation of a medical marijuana overlay district (MMOD) on Route 130 between the Massachusetts Military Reservation and Route 6.
