A West Yarmouth man was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for owning and distributing child pornography. According to a release from US Attorney Carmen Ortiz's Office, in addition to a five-year sentence, US District Court Senior Judge Mark L. Wolf ordered 46-year-old Adam Polakowski to six years supervised release and to pay restitution to four victims.
In January Polakowski pleaded guilty to possession and distribution of pornography. In January 2014, federal agents and Yarmouth police executed a federal search warrant at Polakowski's West Yarmouth home at 18 College Road where he lived alone. During the search, authorities confiscated a desktop computer and a thumb drive containing more than 800 images of child pornography. Some of those images, according to the release, depicted girls ages 4 to 14 engaged in explicit activity.
Authorities also found several pairs of girls' underwear in Polakowski's home, the release said. During an interview, Polakowski admitted to authorities that he secretly took pictures of young girls at local beaches and posted the photos online.
Polakowski had become a person of interest in August 2014. The case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney David G. Tobin of Ortiz's Major Crimes Unit.
