A Springtime visit to Boston

Both Kennedy museums and perhaps the town's best steak
The Porterhouse Steak at Morton's is remarkable.

At a Hilton hotel and Morton's Steakhouse

Boston can be described as a contradiction - hip alongside historic, museums amid music where gourmet meets pizza.

We stayed a couple nights earlier this month at the newly renovated DoubleTree Club by Hilton Boston Bayside which is nearby to the John F. Kennedy Library  and Museum.

This institution captures the life and brief presidency of this remarkable person in history, and it's adjacent to the brand new Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate where you can participate in voting and debate on the Senate floor and learn the process and the history of the Senate.

On Sunday, May 10th. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will be the inaugural speaker in the launch of Kennedy Institute's first major public programming series entitled Getting to the Point. To learn more about the EMK Institute, please visit EMKInstitute.org.

Both are a short stroll from the UMass/Boston campus.

The Double Tree is conveniently located less than two miles from Downtown Boston and six miles from Logan International Airport. Access is simple because the hotel is located just off of Interstate 93.

The DoubleTree Chocolate Cookie
At check-in DoubleTree by Hilton gives out approximately 77,000 chocolate chip cookies each day adding up to more than 28 million cookies annually. The hotels has an in-house Starbucks, a  café and a full bar.

From the South: Follow I-93 North, take Exit 15 – At end of ramp take a right. Bear right around rotary. Take second right off the rotary and then your first immediate sharp right. Proceed straight then turn at the 1st set of lights onto Mt. Vernon Street – Doubletree Club Hotel is on the left.

Perhaps the best steak in the world

Morton's Steakhouse in Boston is at 2 Seaport Lane between Congress Street and Seaport Boulevard across from the Seaport World Trade Center.

In the past 30 years Morton's has grown to over 69 restaurants, all company-owned, and they have elevated steaks to a gourmet status. They are truly better than what one generally gets at even an upscale restaurant, and the service equals the food. Our server was Katie and we were regaled by Levi as well.

USDA Prime-aged beef which has been what Morton's has used since day one is the top 2% of beef available in the U.S.

We began with Jumbo Shrimp Alexander on the left for Pat while I had the excellent Baked Escargot. We finished sharing Morton's sumptuous "Souffle for Two" shown on the right.

For our entrées Pat had a Porterhouse Steak on the right and I had the Signature Cut Prime New York Strip on the left. We ordered two sides, "Twice Baked" Au Gratin Potatoes and Sauteed Spinach & Button Mushrooms. .

See the dinner menu here.

Don't ask how much it costs. As J. P. Morgan answered when asked how much it cost him to maintain his yacht. "If you have to ask, you can’t afford it”.
