FALMOUTH - A 23-year-old Falmouth woman was injured Saturday afternoon when her Toyota Sienna crashed into a utility pole. The crash occurred near 7 Hatchville Road around 12:37 p.m., according to a Falmouth police release.

An off-duty police officer was the first person at the scene, police said. That officer stayed with the driver until Falmouth paramedics arrived.

While paramedics were removing the woman from her vehicle, the pole fell across the roadway, suspended on wires.

The unidentified woman was first taken to Falmouth Hospital by ambulance, then transferred to a Boston-area hospital by a MedFlight crew.

A section of Hatchville Road was closed into the evening as the scene was investigated and cleared. The crash caused power outages in the area, police said. Eversource was called into repair the pole and restore power to the area.

Sgt. Jamie Karl said evidence indicates that this was a single-vehicle crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
