Brewster Water Department to start Underpass Road project June 16

Work scheduled to be completed before July 4th weekend

The Brewster Water Department will begin a stub renewal project on Tuesday, June 16 on Underpass Road. A similar project was undertaken earlier this year along Route 6A.

The Town of Brewster Water Department will be working with their contractor JW Dubis & Sons, Inc. Work will be done between 7:30 a.m and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some work may be done on Saturdays, according to a release from the town.

Officers will be on scene to assist and direct motorists. Depending on the stage of the project, the roadway may be reduced to one lane of traffic. Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes and should expect delays during the project.

The water service stub renewal project is scheduled for completion prior to the July 4th weekend. The stub renewal project must be completed before the Brewster DPW repaving project begins.

During the water project, the section of iron pipe from the main line to the curbside shut off valve will be replaced. The replacement of this pipe, installed between 1972 and 1976 is being paid for by the town.

Approximately 12 residences will receive a stub replacement, according to the town.
