Brooks Free Library closed Wednesday due to electrical issue

Library to remain closed through Thursday

UPDATE 11:15 p.m., 10/14/15: Electrical issues continue to plague the Brooks Free Library. The library will be remain closed on Thursday. Staff will be at the library on Thursday during daylight hours to answer telephones and assist patrons will renewals. Pick-ups will also be available during daylight hours.

An electrical issue closed the Brooks Free Library in Harwich on Tuesday. In a release, Staff Library Suzanne Martell said the staff had hoped they would be able to reopen on Wednesday. 

In a second notice sent at the end of the day, Martell said the issue had not been fixed and the library will remain closed on Wednesday, October 14. All regularly scheduled programs including story times and book groups are canceled. 

Library goers will still have access to the library's many online resources including CLAMS and Axis360 via the Brooks Free Library website.

The exact issue is unknown.

The library's current hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Brooks Free Library is at 739 Main Street in Harwich.
