Falmouth Historic Society seeks nostalgic toys

Check the attic for your old toys
Got some cool old toys stashed away? Consider lending or giving them to Falmouth Museums on the Green.

Most often focused on the serious side of the past, the Falmouth Museums on the Green is seeking a bit of nostalgic whimsy. In time for the holidays, the museum is looking for popular toys from centuries past to populate a new display.

Climb up into the attic or down into the basement to dig out your favorite toys from your childhood.

The Falmouth Museums on the Green is looking for items to be donated or lent to the collection.

The toys will enhance the already festive holiday decorations. Everybody remembers the joy of opening that special toy as a child.

The museum is looking for toys that span eight decades and include the following (or similar):

  • 1920s: vintage yo-yo
  • 1930s: stuffed Mickey Mouse, sock monkey, Red Ryder BB gun
  • 1940: vintage slinky
  • 1950: Silly Putty, Tonka truck, Barbie, Chatty Cathy
  • 1960: GI Joe, Easy Bake Oven, Rock 'em, Sock 'em Robots
  • 1970: Stretch Armstrong, Star Wars action figures
  • 1980: Rubik's Cube
  • 1990: Beanie Babies, Super Soaker

If you have something you would like to see included in the collection, contact Jennifer Krumfolz at [email protected] or 508-548-4857 ext. 19. You may also stop by the museum Tuesday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Falmouth Museums on the Green is at 55-65 Palmer Ave.
