If you live in Brewster and want to be able to leave your kayak at the water's edge, you will want to enter the town's 2016 kayak rack lottery. The lottery is for storing kayaks in the town's racks at three waterways: Paines Creek, Mants Landing and Uppermill Pond. Paines Creek and Mants Landing are both Cape Cod Bay locations.
Applications are being accepted now through Tuesday, March 1.
To apply, fill out an application and enclose a check for $25 made payable to the Town of Brewster. Checks should be mailed to the Natural Resources Department at the Town Hall, 2198 Main Street in Brewster.
The application requires dates for the use of the rack (annual or two-week), preferred location, pertinent details about the kayak and contact information. Kayak rack permits will be assigned after March 1. Permits will correspond to a particular space in the rack. Subletting is not permitted.
Those holding 2015 permits will not be allowed to renew and must enter the lottery anew.
For more information, contact the Natural Resources Department. Kayak rack regulations are available here.
