The following statement was issued Sunday by the Azzato for Sheriff campaign:

Formal Campaign Response:

Director Azzato’s credentials, resume, and reputation are exceptional.

Randy has handled over 10,000 police calls for service, made over 1,300 arrests, and managed nearly 450 internal affairs investigations. The internal affairs investigations led to numerous criminal charges, over 30 terminations, and extensive internal discipline. Some of the individuals arrested or investigated obviously did not like the outcome of the investigations. However, that comes with the territory and expectation of conducting investigations. Randy has proven that he holds staff and criminals accountable, and he will continue to do so as the Barnstable County Sheriff.

By law, Randy cannot discuss the criminal charges he is currently bringing against nearly a dozen Commonwealth employees. Those investigations and charges are highly confidential, and are for law enforcement officials only.
