Sea Turtle Open House, November 26th in Wellfleet

Learn more about sea turtles and why they strand...

The Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will offer a "Sea Turtle Open House" on Saturday, November 18th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drop in to learn more about sea turtles and why they strand on the beaches of Cape Cod in the late fall, and get a behind-the-scenes look at rescue efforts. Recent stranding seasons have been very busy. What will this year’s stranding season be like?

This “open house” will feature on-going exhibits including a photo exhibit of our rescue program and posters focusing on sea turtle natural history and our rescue and research efforts, a touch table with turtle shells and skulls, videos, a “behind the scenes” tour of our wet lab, and a craft table for kids. Staff and volunteers will also be on hand to answer questions. If the winds are right, you may have the opportunity to witness live sea turtles as they are being brought into our sanctuary for the start of their rehabilitation.

The open house is free with sanctuary admission or membership.
