The Cape Organization for Rights of the Disabled (CORD )has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Coreen Brinckerhoff as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Brinckerhoff has served as Executive Director of the organization since 2008.
“This appointment is long overdue,” said Mike Magnant, CORD’s Chief Operating Officer. “Coreen’s leadership over the past 9 years has made CORD a leader in its field. Today’s challenges for nonprofits are exponential. Coreen is unique in her ability to translate vision and strategy into world-class execution by bringing together people and programs that drive exceptional results. There’s no question in my mind that Coreen will continue to move CORD forward by taking advantage of the numerous opportunities in front of us. She is a champion of the CORD culture and has an incredible ability to inspire, energize and connect with employees, partners, consumers, as well as state and national leaders in the field of services to people with disabilities.”
“I joined CORD 22 years ago because I wanted to be part of an organization that was committed to serving people with disabilities – people who are so often marginalized and neglected by society. I wanted to be part of an organization that was actively doing something to change all that. People with disabilities live in a world that is fraught with barriers that are often inadvertent and exist out of ignorance, fear, or concern. CORD’s commitment to removing those barriers through training, technical assistance, collaboration, and the development of inclusive practices hasn’t changed over time. Today, CORD is one of the most effective organizations of its kind; fiercely committed to delivering programs and services to people with disabilities. The opportunities that lie ahead for CORD are enormous, and the ability to lead this organization into its next chapter of achievement is deeply humbling and incredibly exhilarating.”
