Evening commute off-Cape may experience snow, sleet/freezing rain

Evening Commute May be Impacted by Snow and Sleet/Freezing Rain (Info as of 1:30PM on 1/17/17)

US National Weather Service Boston MA advises that the evening commute today may be impacted by moderate to heavy precipitation that will overspread the region between 4 PM and 7 PM. The precipitation will be mainly snow across the high terrain of interior northern, MA where snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour are possible. Further south and inland from the coast, a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected. Along and southeast of the Boston to Providence corridor, mainly rain is expected but some sleet and wet snow flakes may be possible at the onset.

Travel during this evening’s commute may be difficult or hazardous in areas of the state that receive snow or freezing rain/sleet, particularly on untreated roads.
