Chatham Police arrest Harwich man for burning vehicle

CHATHAM POLICE ARREST HARWICH MAN FOR BURNING A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE:

On Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Chatham Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle fire in the area of 224 Commerce Park, Chatham. On arrival, units located a 1976 Ford F700 Dump Truck fully engulfed in fire. The fire was extinguished and there were no reported injuries.

The dump truck, owned by “C2 It” Inc., (a commercial business at 202 Commerce Park, Chatham) was a total loss.

An investigation conducted by Chatham Police Department, led to the arrest of Derek P. Morgan, (age 43), from Harwich, (pictured), on Monday, January 30, 2017.

Mr. Morgan was charged with Willful and Malicious Burning of a Motor Vehicle. He was arraigned in Orleans District Court.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department assisted with this investigation.
