The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House with the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition is pleased to offer QPR Gatekeeper training at the Meeting House in Chatham on Saturday, February 18 at 10 am at the Meeting House in Chatham. The training is free but pre-registration is preferred.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — 3 simple steps to help recognize a mental health emergency and  save a life from suicide. QPR Gatekeepers, like those trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver, help save thousands of lives each year. Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

The mission of the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition is to help give Cape Cod and Island communities the necessary information and tools to raise awareness, promote education, and increase action to reduce suicides. http://www.suicideispreventable.net/
