URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Taunton MA 107 PM EST Mon Feb 13 2017 MAZ022-132100- /O.NEW.KBOX.WW.Y.0010.170213T1807Z-170213T2100Z/ Barnstable MA- Including the cities of Chatham, Falmouth, and Provincetown 107 PM EST Mon Feb 13 2017 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON... The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cape Cod, which is in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon. * TIMING...Through 4 pm this afternoon. * MAIN IMPACT...Periods of snow are expected to affect Cape Cod through 4 pm. The heaviest snowfall is expected to be on the mid to outer Cape, where snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected this afternoon. The combination of heavy snowfall and strong wind gusts will produce periods of near whiteout conditions. * OTHER IMPACTS...A High Wind Warning is also in effect for this area. Northwest wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts to 60 mph. Use caution when traveling...especially in open areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Periods of snow will cause travel difficulties.
