ARL Pet of the Week: Meet Joonbug!

7 year old female pittie mix

Meet Joonbug!

Joonbug is a very sweet pittie mix. This gorgeous brindle lady is friendly meeting new people, although sometimes she may jump up in her excitement. While her previous home was fairly quiet, Joonbug was friendly with children when they visited. She is housetrained and keeps her space very clean, and is trustworthy in the home when her family is out. Joon does not always like certain types of handling, such as picking up her feet.

She has lived with a cat and chickens (she used to collect the chicken eggs and bring them inside). Joonbug is very selective about her canine pals. She walks near other dogs with no problems, however she does not want them in her personal space. She will likely do best as the only dog in the home.

If you love to go for walks, Joonbug is your gal! She is a strong puller on leash, so an easy-walk harness is helpful. She has also been known to try to help you hold the leash. Walks and playtime are great ways to help her regain a more appropriate weight. Right now, she is obese and needs to lose quite a bit of weight. She was used to getting quite a bit of unhealthy human food in her previous home. A healthy diet in addition to regular exercise will help her slim back down for the swimsuit season.

Joonbug has been at the Animal Rescue League shelter in Brewster since February 4th.  If you would like to meet Joonbug, please contact the ARL Brewster shelter at 508-255-1030.
