Rep. Whelan, Rep. Crocker visit St. Pius X School, Read to Kids

Celebration of Read Around America, community-wide effort
Rep. Tim Whelan and Rep. Will Crocker are joined by The Cat in the Hat (Lori Bogdahn) plus Thing 1 and Thing 2 (STX students Finnian and Braden Shortt of Dennis) during a Visit to St. Pius X School in Yarmouth.

Representatives Tim Whelan & Will Crocker, along with other community members, like Yarmouth Fire Dept. Employees, stopped by Saint Pius X School Thursday to read to students in celebration of Read Around America and Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Read Around America highlights the importance of reading.

They read to middle school students the acclaimed Dr. Seuss book, The Butter Battle Book, a rhyming anti-war tale written during the Cold War, yet still timely today. They were joined by The Cat In The Hat and Thing 1 & Thing 2.

Fifth and sixth grade students met with the two Representatives to discuss the importance of reading and current events.

Visitors from the community and The Cat in the Hat were on hand throughout the day to read and celebrate at the school.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, known to generations as "Dr. Seuss" wrote some of the most beloved children's books of all time.  His "Dr. Seuss" series of books sold over 600 million copies and have been translated into 20 languages.
